Andrew Doyle is angry about fly-tipping
FLY-TIPPING at a Rawtenstall business park has led to rats infesting the area, according to its neighbours.
Residents in Taylor Street in Rawtenstall claimed that assorted rubbish which has included mattresses and electrical goods, are being dumped and left to rot at a site off Burnley Road.
Andrew Doyle, 24, who is a resident in the street, said he had been trying to get help to resolve the problem over the last 10 months.
Mr Doyle, a self-employed IT engineer who moved to the Valley from Preston last year, said: “I am at the end of my tether with this.
“I have made numerous attempts to sort it out since I moved in.”
The site is operated by the construction company B&E Boys.
Mr Doyle said: “I’ve written letters, sent emails, and also made phone calls.
“And I even made a complaint on their Facebook page.”
The company had installed a row of barbed wire along the top of an 8ft wall in a bid to stop any incidents.
The majority of the fly-tipping is at the corner of Taylor Street and Greenfield Street and Mr Doyle said he accepts this is not the fault of B&E Boys But he added: “The company have signs which say that fly-tippers will be prosecuted. And yet the rubbish is still continuing to be dumped. We should be trying to improve community spirit.”
No one at B&E Boys was available.
