Darwen teacher in second court appearance

A 26-YEAR-OLD male teacher has made a second appearance in court charged with sexual assault on a 14-year-old pupil and abuse of his position of trust.
The charges against Christopher Midgley, of Brookside, Coppull, Chorley, involve a pupil at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy. The offences allegedly took place between February 2010 and May 2011.
Midgley, who is also a Chorley District Scouts young leaders’ leader, has been suspended from his duties at the school and by the scouts.
The magistrates committed the case to Preston Crown Court.
Conditions of bail include no unsupervised contact with anyone under the age of 16 and no communication with any of the prosecution witnesses.
