A BLACKBURN school bade farewell to its students for the final time.

Beardwood Humanities College held a week-long series of events, including a whole school trip to a theme park, a sports day and presentation assembly.

A surprise gathering of past and present staff and students was also held for headteacher Ruby Hussain, front. Just before closing, the Preston New Road School was presented with a certificate from the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT) for its A*-C grade GCSE results last year.

The majority of Beardwood pupils will move to the new Blackburn Central High School.
