FITNESS fanatics in Colne donned their swimsuits to tackle a length of the pool for every life lost in the Afghanistan.

Ten members of staff from Pendle Leisure Centre took the plunge and swam 2,120 lengths in a total of four hours yesterday.

Swimming in pairs, each team member completed 212 lengths of the 25-metre pool, a length for every serviceman killed.

The team hope to have raised more than £1,000 for war hero charity Help for Heroes.

Team member, Josh Hindle, 20, said: “The idea came from my colleague Michael Haydock who is a life guard at the pool. We have all been swimming a lot lately and he thought that we could make it into a challenge and raise money for Help for Heroes at the same time.”

The team has had collection buckets at the sports centre and wrist bands on sale.

Don't quote me wrong.
the funds that help the heros raises, pay for the things that the M.O.D would pay for by law.
Why do people not use the money they would of donated to lobby there MP to change things to be funded by mod.
If people don't when the wars are over and people stop donating the ex service men will be up the creek without a paddle.
Just think before you donate.
