Appeal after unprovoked Accrington night attack

A MAN was left with a broken cheekbone and jaw when he was attacked after a night out in Accrington.

Police said the 21-year-old victim was walking along Blackburn Road when he saw a couple arguing outside Accrington Town Hall.

As he walked past them, he was punched three times by the man causing him to fall to the ground.

The victim had metal plates and pins fitted following the attack around 1am on July 15.

Detectives are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

PC Jo Galeski said: “This is a serious and unprovoked attack on an innocent member of the public and the person responsible needs to be caught and brought to justice.

“The victim required medical treatment and has been left shaken following this attack and is now recovering at home.”
