DAN DOUBLE Yasmin and Kasim in action
A MOTHER and son have proved they are a real match for bullies after high kicking their way into karate black belts.
Yasmin Zaffar decided she and her 11-year-old son Kasim would learn the highly-skilled martial art karate together, after Kasim became the target of local bullies.
The pair from Darwen, who have been training with Aspire Martial Arts, which has classes in Blackburn, Darwen, Burnley and Padiham, for six years have just obtained the coveted black belt.
Avondale Primary School pupil Kasim said: “Karate has really helped improve my self esteem. I am absolutely love training.
“Everyone at school is impressed I am a black belt. I hope to one day become a teacher because that would be my dream job.”
Police staff member Yasmin was just awarded her black belt second dan. She said: “It feels amazing to achieve my goal. Me and Kasim started karate six years ago because he was being bullied a little bit. I thought learning karate would give him back his confidence and help him defend himself if he was in a volatile situation.
“I am not a violent person at all but it is very comforting to know I can look after myself if I need too. It is also lovely being able to share a hobby with my son.”
Yasmin, who works in Lancashire Constabulary’s community cohesion team, now hopes to complete her trainee instructor exams, so she can set up a female only karate class reaching out to those members of the community who would normally not be able to learn self defence techinques.
She said: “Being Asian myself, it would be nice to be able to help other Asian women to have the opportunity to become confident, self assured and able to defend themselves.
“Karate is about control not violence and that is something I would like to spread.”

With 1 foot firmly on the ground, lift gradually the other foot and raise it as high as you can, directly in front of you and at an angle, above the head.
If you scream in pain no doubt I'll here you, even though you are on the other side of the Pendle Hill!

What percentage of violent attacks carried out on asian females are from within the immediate family unit? I'd say it would be pretty high in comparison to anglo saxon women, who are more likely to get a beating from a complete stranger and also from within the family unit. So I'd say its probably an even split for them.
What do you think???

Yes it would help victims of domestic issues and personally I have trained a few, but regret failing to train victims, as the one who had her eyes gorjed out and blinded by her maniac partner, reported LET.
Just giveover jumping on a band wagon and how I wish I could train you to engage your brain before deciding to release garbage!
