Oxford University next for Pendle woman

A BUSINESSWOMAN from Pendle has been accepted onto a prestigious law course at Oxford University.

Justine Mitchell, 39, from Brierfield, graduated from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) with a first-class honours degree.

Now she will study for a postgraduate qualification on one of the most sought-after courses in the country.

The former Habergham High School pupil studied part-time, juggling university work with running her web design business.

She received the highest marks in her class and represented UCLan in the Oxford International Intellectual Property Moot, which invites teams from universities to present arguments on each side of a law problem.

She said: “I’ve had to work really hard over the last four years and am delighted that it’s paid off.

“I wasn’t able to go to uiniversity when I was younger and when I turned 35 I decided it was now or never.

“The tutors at UCLan have been supportive and encouraging throughout my studies.”
