Darwen jazz and blues countdown

DARWEN Jazz and Blues Festival gets underway on Friday, August 10.

Pubs throughout the town will have live bands on Friday night.

Headlining the festival on Saturday are Hue and Cry, at Darwen Library Theatre, from 7pm. Tickets cost £19.50 in advance.

The majority of the rest of the festival takes place at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy.

On Saturday, at DACA, the line-up includes Blackburn with Darwen Music Service Big Band, Justin Randall, Jeriatric Jazz, Kiki Deville and The Cadillacs, plus a special guest yet to be announced. Tickets for Saturday cost £8 in advance.

On Sunday there is Callum AU on trombone with the Paul Rigby Trio, the Paul Birchall Trio, Dizzy Hack and The Rhino Horns, Trio Gitan, Kiki Sire and Son Tropical, and Hubbards Covered. Tickets for Sunday cost £10 in advance.

Advance tickets for the whole weekend’s entertainment at DACA cost £16.50.
