Blackburn council to vote on care budget
9:33am Thursday 12th July 2012 in News
A £50million adult social care budget will be brought back under the control of Blackburn with Darwen Council, if a vote is passed tonight.
The existing section 75 commissioning agreement between the council and the Care Trust Plus will come to an end on April 31, 2013, when the latter is replaced by a doctor-led Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
CCGs nationally will not take on responsibility for adult social care, though will work with local authorities over care issues.
The council previously ran the service, and will take on the responsibility for 20 staff who work for the service if plans are passed.
