Blackburn man's £140k Aston Martin torched

A £140,000 Aston Martin was torched outside its owner’s semi-detached Blackburn home in a suspected arson attack.

Owner Tim Osman, 49, said he was “horrified” to see the quantum silver DB9 sports coupe alight in the drive of his house in Wilworth Crescent, Pleckgate, Blackburn.

Police said the car had a broken window and are investigating whether lighter fluid had been poured inside before it was torched.

The regional sales representative was woken to the unfolding drama by his wife, who had heard “crashes and bangs” at 1.20am yesterday.

The couple, who have two sons, ran outside to extinguish the blaze, which has ravaged the hand-stiched black leather interior.

Mr Osman said: “It was bought brand new in February, and it’s my dream car. I don’t drive it that often.

“I came outside and my head couldn’t compute what was going on. At first I thought it must be an electrical fault, but then I noticed that the driver’s side window had been smashed, and barbecue lighter fuel had been poured in and set on fire.

“I can’t understand why anybody would do something like this. Someone who is jealous might scratch it as they walk by, but it takes effort to go out of your way with lighter fuel.

"I can’t think of anyone I’ve fallen out with who would do something like this, so I couldn’t help the police at all.

“I even started thinking that if the car wasn’t there, would they have put something through the letter box?”

“I am angry, and at the moment the car’s been taken back to Aston Martin for assessment. It will definitely be a few thousand pounds to sort out.”

Police have confirmed an investigation is underway.A spokesman said: “Officers were called at 1.20am to reports of an Aston Martin DB9 which had a broken window and had been set on fire in a driveway.

“It’s looking like it could be arson, a neighbour has stated he saw someone running away from the scene.”

Mr Osman’s Aston Martin DB9 has a six litre, V12 engine capable of a top speed of 190mph, has 469 brake horse power.

It's enough to make a grown man cry.
Having owned an Aston Martin DB5 for a lot of years, only taking it out now and again, I can appreciate what you must be feeling.
Can I suggest that if it's replaced, do as I do and keep it away from people, in my case, in it's box.

It is a mindless and horrible act of vandalism, based most likely on pure jealousy.

However, what I don't understand is why buy a £140k car capable of 190mph?!

You could buy a decent family home for that much and the maximum speed limit on a motorway is 70mph.

I genuinely don't understand why anyone would buy such an expensive and high-spec car.

Maybe it was a life long dream, no matter what reasons and its practicality it's e relevant. Why anyone would want to destroy it is madness. Where does it end, my 10 year old car is slightly less knackered than your 9 year old car so I'm going to destroy it?

When you have paid off most of the mortgage, put the kids through school, 'done' all the places you ever wanted to go in the World, made a palace for the love of your life, got a wardrobe full of nice clothes and still have a bit of money left, why not fulfil your own dream, as in his case?
Am willing to bet that it wasn't it's top speed that made him buy it but more the huge sense of self worth that you get from owning such a thing of beauty. Not to mention the pride in having achieved something through sheer hard graft. You have to close an heck of a lot of deals to even think of buying one.

Seems to be a lot of envious morons in this thread. Probably they are those who have never lifted a finger in their life to earn a living.

All these green - eyed comments are typical of this country where people who are prepared to roll their sleeves up, do a decent days graft (and probably beyond the norm) are not appreciated, instead catigated by such shiftless posters seen here.

Regardless of whether people have envy or admiration for the owner, what has happened is a CRIME. The action is against the Laws of the land and whoever did it should be dragged through the courts and punished accordingly. In sentencing it should be taken into account there was the possibility of loss of life for a full family and time given extended to include this.

There is too much leniency and favouring the perpetrators, instead of the victims. Congratulations Mr. Kenneth Clarke and all do-gooders of his ilk in creating a situation where even murder is not looked on as utterly appalling and where suspects charged they are allowed out on bail.

Why do you find it so funny Darran - or is it Daz? Can you just be grown up enough to ask yourself that question and give us an answer? is your little world so sad that you take pleasure out of incidents like this?

I suspect you don't actually own anything yourself and have never aspired to make youself better. Instead you have probably scrounged your way through your idiotic little life living off the backs of others. A parasite no less.

yea you would , but he didn't want to hear it because he wouldn't of been paid out by insurance company if the fire was stoped.
He whole story seems a bit fishy to me.
