School reunion planned before demolition of Blackburn school

A SCHOOL reunion for all past and present staff at an East Lancashire high school is taking place.

Witton Park High School, Blackburn, is due to be knocked down and replaced under the Blackburn with Darwen Council’s Building Schools for the Future scheme.

The building will be demolished after the new school, which has also been built in Witton Park, opens in August.

Before the demolition a reunion will take place on Thursday, 6.30pm to 9.30pm, with tickets on the door for 50p.

Witton Park High was created after Girls Grammar School and the Secondary Modern School amalgamated in 1978.

Teacher and reunion organiser Susan Hall said: “The reunion is a wonderful opportunity to reunite with past colleagues and students and allow everyone to see the developments that have taken place.”

Headteacher Dean Logan said: “This is a very exciting time for Witton Park High School. The new school will enable us to expand on the success and traditions of the past to use as a foundation for the future.”
