Volunteers call as Darwen charity shop opens
8:00pm Wednesday 27th June 2012 in News
A DARWEN charity shop opens its doors to the public tomorrow, but the store manager has continued an appeal for more volunteers.
Salvation Army Trading Company is set to open a shop at 2a and 2b School Street.
The shop will sell donated goods including clothes, accessories, bric-a-brac and household goods, with all profits gift-aided to The Salvation Army to help fund its work.
More helpers are needed and the team is holding a volunteering open day today from 11am to 3pm.
Shop manager Carmelina di Gaetano said: “We rely heavily on the generosity of our volunteers, who are key members of the team in all our shops.
“There are lots of different jobs that need doing, from working on the till to sorting through the donated stock, as well as window dressing and helping customers with their purchases.
“We are also looking for volunteer drivers with their own transport to help pick up donations from people’s homes in the area."
For more information on becoming a volunteer, visit the shop today or email volunteer@satradingco.org.
