THIS 10-year-old girl has lots to shout about after winning two prestigious cheerleading competitions.

Tia Ikpoh, has been a member of Cheer Valley cheerleading squad, based in Hollins Grove Street Mills, Darwen, since she was six.

And after coach Sarah Williams decided she was ready to take part in solo competitions, she won her first two.

She became national freestyle champion at the National Street Cheer competition in Liverpool last year, and recently won the youth solo tumble category in the Empress Classics at Blackpool Winter Gardens.

Mum Emma Walsh, 38, said Tia, a Year Six pupil at Holy Trinity Primary School who lives in Richmond Park, Darwen, joined the squad with her sister, 12-year-old Ebony.

She said: “They both wanted something to do and we had seen about Cheer Valley in the Lancashire Telegraph. They kept asking if we would take them.

“Eventually we did and they both loved it. Sarah is amazing, she is such a brilliant coach.”

Miss Walsh, who is engaged to Paul Ikpoh, 46, said Tia was impressing everyone.
