HOSPITALS in East Lancashire are being asked to do more to help homeless patients.
The NHS Confederation has asked all member hospitals to identify homeless patients quickly.
And to involve housing teams or hostels in their care – rather than discharging them back onto the streets.
A report by charity Homeless Link and St Mungo’s said that homeless people cost at least as five times as much as other patients because they often have multiple health problems and repeated admissions.
