TWO house raiders who struck at a property in Padiham in the early hours walked free from court.

Jordan Buckley, 18, and Nathan Smith, 19, had gone with tools to remove piping. They had pulled radiators off the wall and were trying to remove the boiler when they were caught, Burnley Crown Court heard. Both, said to have ‘substantial’ criminal records, left a £2,000 trail of damage at the property in Thompson Street.

Buckley, of Chapel Street, Brierfield, and Smith, of Manchester Road, Hapton, had admitted burglary, last December 6. Buckley, who had served 131 days in custody, was given a two-year community order with 150 hours unpaid work and supervision. Smith received 26 weeks in detention, suspended for 18 months, with supervision.
