GALLERY: Blackburn Rovers fans urged to grow a 'Givet beard' for survival
3:33pm Wednesday 25th April 2012 in News
BLACKBURN Rovers’ relegation battle is getting a bit hairy – with fans growing a ‘Givet beard for survival’.
In honour of bearded favourite Gael Givet, Rovers fans have started a Twitter campaign for fans to copy his facial hair to inspire a great escape.
It will certainly be a close shave but Rovers are hoping they don’t finish a whisker away from safety.
To join the campaign, which has been backed by Givet himself, go to #GivetBeardForSurvival on Twitter.
Organisers of the campaign are also urging Givet beard growers to make a donation to East Lancashire Hospice

Desperate Dann got relegated last season with Birmingham, and will demand a move. He feels he is far too good to play at Championship level. He isn't.
Pederson will be on at LEAST 20K a week, and will have to be off loaded, one way or another.
The Yak will bring in a couple of Mil, so will be touted around mid table PL clubs. It's well known that Robbo is VERY sympathetic towards the protesters, and I presume will be another high earner. £20K+ per week? He'll have to go, whether he likes it or not.
I'm also convinced that Venky's will not put another penny into this club, and they'll expect it to be self financing from here on in. Add to that a dramatic fall in ST sales, and walk on fans, and we're in for a VERY difficult end to 2012.
It would not surprise me in the least, if we're not in administration before Christmas, which will obviously incur a 10 point deduction, and the very real prospect of a second successive relegation.
As long as Venky's own the club, Kean will remain as manager, as he's obviously 'in on the act', so to speak.

We really need to start thinking about the players we feel are going to be good enough and comitted enough to take us up again next season as it will take a win against spuds and a win against Wigan and a draw against Chelsea to keep us up this year.

Venkys don't keep Keano for any other reason than that he does the business for them. As long as Venkys own Rovers, Kean will be manager.
Players are/will not be bought/sold on any other basis than profit and loss considerations, some people on this site simply don't get it - the Venky/Kean plan has little to do with footie and everything to do with squezzing cash out of Rovers.

Gien that the cost cutting has inevitably brought on relegation and a drop in income of at least £50 million per year can anyone get him to explain the sense in all this?
Of course as per the You Tube clip Steve Kean Bull**it man he sees very little, promises top 10 finishes and states that we definitely wont be relegated. Given how badly wrong all these statements have gone, surely, it has to be time to sack him. Am I just suffering from wishful thinking?

7. Myles Anderson (Blackburn, free)
Not just a poor signing, but also a perplexing one as far as supporters were concerned. Steve Kean likened him to Chris Smalling when signing a player who made a solitary appearance for Aberdeen. Since then, Anderson has not played at all for Blackburn. Neither, for that matter, has full-back Bruno Ribeiro, described as a Brazilian Denis Irwin when recruited. Neither even got on the bench when Rovers had five defenders out injured, so why sign them?
Go back to last summer and Scott Dann seemed a man in demand. Liverpool and Arsenal were allegedly interested, so it seemed a coup when Blackburn signed him at the end of the transfer window. Now it looks another of the mistakes that could cost Rovers their Premier League status. Secure in a well-drilled and rigorously-screened Birmingham back four last season, Dann has been exposed and embarrassed at Ewood Park. Examine the many goals that Blackburn have conceded and all too often he is culpable. The ruptured testicle he suffered in December may have seemed the most painful part of his season, but arguably his defending has caused more anguish.
Of course none of us will forget that the Father of Myles broke down in tears on SSN for the stick the fans were allegedly giving his son, who is only trying his best to do his job!

Can you blame my assumption when we had the likes of Nelsen, Samba, Givet and two young well rated centre backs Dann and Hanley and the experience of Salgado and the injection of pace of Olsson.
Never mind capturing two proven goal scorers Yakubu and Goodwillie.
Our midfield was average but still got their qualities Dunn may not always be available but when he is fit he has a great pass and can conjure some screamers, Pedersen has the ability to take awesome free kicks and corners although sometimes you can wonder, Hoilett a hot fresh talent at the time and N'Zonzi who was linked to Arsenal and Man Utd.
Other positives was Formica who is a fast footed and minded player, Rochina who possesses great technical ability and has the Barca style written all over him and Petrovic who apparently had an absolute screamer but still strong and solid at the back.
How did this all go wrong? You would think from the quality of the team alone we could of at least hit top 10.
Nobody with an exception to Hoilett has played anywhere near their capabilities and I wouldn't be surprised to see us playing with the same squad next year because who in the right mind would want anyone in our squad?
Samba - Played well to begin with but gave up as soon as rumours of him leaving returned.
Nelsen - Where the hell was he all season?
Dann - Complete RUBBISH
Hanley - Some games an absolute rock other games he plays like a school boy.
Salgado - Looked like he was about to retire.
Yakubu - We would be relegation certainties without him but still he could put more effort rather than expect the ball to fall to him.
Goodwillie - Headless chicken
Dunn - Lazy lazy lazy
Pedersen - Sloppy to say the least.
Hoilett - I love him when Rovers are in possession but when they aren't he just stands there like a nonce.
Formica - Doesn't get involved
N'Zonzi - Looked rubbish all this year
Rochina - Why is he not started every game?
Petrovic - Donkey doesn't look like he has made a forward move in his life lately. But at the beginning of the season he was spraying fantastic balls anywhere you wanted on the pitch.

Reg Rover says...
Just a thought. It is widely known that Steve (the man who cannot win football matches) Kean despises Sam Allardyce, the man who took him from the dole que and gave him a Premiership coaching job (big mistake Sam).
It is widely known that Mrs Anuradha (I like to be entertained) Desai and her brothers will not admit to the error they made in sacking a proven manager on the advice of disgraced football agent Jerome (the man who ruined Blackburn Rovers) Anderson.
It is widely known that Allardyce and Anderson do not like each other.
So why not forget any verbal protest at the Wigan game, why don’t BRFC ACTION GROUP have made and distribute 10,000 face masks of Sam Allardyce for us all to wear whilst we watch the game and cheer the team on. I will certainly wear one, no security problems, they will fit in the pocket perfectly, no banners needed. Just a silent protest wearing a Sam Allardyce mask will say it all and realy get under Kean’s skin. It might even inspire the players!
IT IS PAY BACK TIME FOR BIG SAM AND US ALL.
Reg
Footnote:
To cover the costs of the masks a charge can be made and have them on sale in participating shops, pubs etc and outside the ground.
Worth £1.00 of anyone’s money.
