A TIP-off from nearby residents led to 45 cannabis plants being seized from a house.

Police discovered the plants when they went with a warrant to the address on Tintern Crescent, Blackburn, on Wednesday morning and found 25 mature plants and a further 20 smaller plants in an upstairs bedroom.

Lighting and ventilation equipment was also seized from the house.

Sgt Jon Cisco said: “Once again, we have acted on information from the community to remove cannabis from our streets.

“I hope local residents are reassured that the police do listen to their concerns and will take action.

“We will continue to do everything we can to remove drugs from our streets and I urge members of the public to contact us with any information or concerns they have.”

A 27-year-old man and 50-year-old woman were given police cautions.

Officers have now donated the pots and soil in which the plants were growing to Little Harwood allotments.

Lancashire Constabulary recently launched Operation Nimrod in a bid to combat drug dealing.

It is the 10th consecutive year the campaign has been run, and has so far put 900 criminals behind bars for a total of over 1,600 years.

It was launched in April 2002 in a bid to reduce street crime, such as burglaries and robberies, that were linked to class A drug use.

Anyone with information or concerns about drugs can contact police on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111. Police said no personal details will be taken, information is not traced or recorded and contacts will not go to court.
