BACUP residents are being asked to come up with ideas on how to create a lasting legacy for the town with £50,000.

When Bacup Leisure Hall was sold, it was agreed that the proceeds from the sale would be reinvested into the town.

Following consultation at the end of 2010 by Bacup Neighbourhood Forum, it was agreed that £100,000 of the funding would be used to create a Vocational Training Centre at Stubbylee.

Now the council is appealing for ideas from the public on how to spend the remaining £50,000.

Alison Wilkins, Locality Manager at Rossendale Council said: “Ideas for how the money should be spent are welcome from anyone, individuals or organisations in the Bacup area.

“This is a great opportunity for people to put in their suggestions for how the money from the Leisure Hall could be spent.”

All ideas must be submitted before April 30 by calling the number 01706 252593.
