A NIGHTCLUB has been overwhelmed with interest from around the world after a top pop star mentioned it on his Twitter page.

Level One in Accrington is to host a performance from US boyband Backstreet Boys next month.

Following coverage of the upcoming show in the Lancashire Telegraph, Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter linked the article in his Twitter page.

The tweet, which said simply:”UK, U ready?” alongside a link to the Telegraph article, has prompted a flood of interest in the Warner Street club.

Level One owner Leon Kelly said: “The response has been astounding, the phone is ringing off the hook. I’m getting emails from all over the world. Many of them have obviously been transalted in to English using auto translate and basically, people wnat tickets and to know how to get to the venue!

“It’s amazing that Backstreet Boys fans from around the world are reading about Accrington and making palns to visit.”

Backstreet Boy Nick, who has 269,289 followers on Twitter, is well known as a band member and also a solo artist and reality TV star. He is the Backstreet Boy’s youngest member, and was just 12 years old when he shot to worldwide fame when the band formed in the early 90s.

He was also named Cosmogirl magazine's "Sexiest Man in the World" in 2002 beating out rival pop star Justin Timberlake for the title, launching a media-hyped "rivalry" between Timberlake and Carter.

His tweet about Acrington on Thursday was greeted with delighted reposnse from fans who said they hoped to see him there.

Owner Leon Kelly said the Backstreet Boys booking was the result of months of negotiations, before finally receiving confirmation this week. Just a few months ago, the nightspot held a sell-out show for hip hop and rap Grammy Hall of Fame icon Grandmaster Flash. Level One has also played host to MTV superstars Dirty Sanchez, the cast of TV’s Shameless, the Only Way Is Essex star Lauren Pope and the platinum award-winning DJ Sash.
