RIVAL fairgrounds are set to spring up all over the Burnley and Pendle area in the run-up to Easter.

Today sees the opening of a new fairground attraction on the site of the former Cloverbrook site off Gannow Lane, Burnley.

Promoter say they will be attempting to recreate the atmosphere of the former Rosegrove fairs and Wakes Week festivities during their 10-day run.

David Taylor’s eponymous firm already organises the spring and autumn fairs in Nelson and has promised a series of stellar rides.

He said: “We chose the Cloverbrook site because of its close proximity to the M65, where we are sure the fair will create an interesting sight for thousands of passing motorists each day.

“We recognise that times are tough right now for many families but that’s no reason not to get out there and celebrate spring.”

Elsewhere the ‘Burnley Bonanza Theme Park’ is set to brighten up south-west Burnley from next Friday.

Featuring the usual host of rides, games and stalls, the fair will be at a site in Hargher Street, off Accrington Road, until Sunday, April 1.

Another spring fair is also being set up on land off Bradley Hall Road in Nelson, running for 10 days. The Taylor’s fair moves to a site in Carr Road, Nelson, from Wednesday, March 28.
