A TV WILDLIFE presenter has turned to a Burnley firm to provide solar panels for her Monmouthshire farm.

Kate Humble, star of Springwatch, Lambing Live, and Wild in Africa, and her husband Ludo Graham, are currently converting a Welsh farm to teach rural skills and animal husbandry.

And Kate chose Billington Road company Solarlec to install solar PV panels on the roof of the farm to produce ren- ewable energy.

Kate, 43, said: “Now I can practise what I preach.

“I am a firm believer in the need for all of us to adopt sustainable sour-ces of energy wherever possible, so the barn roofs at the farm gave me the perfect opportunity to look at PV panels.

“The team from Solarlec have ensured the farm is now producing its own renewable energy.”

Employees Michael Bailey, Colin Burrows, and Sam Boden, travelled to the farm earlier this week to install the solar panels.

Solarlec director Ged Rowbottom said: “Kate’s installation was completed in a day and the panels are already performing to a high level.

“We’re thrilled to have been able to help Kate achieve a sustainable energy source for the farm.”

The company recently announced a £12million turnover for 2011.

And the firm installs more than 1,200 panels every month.

Kate and Ludo’s dream for the farm started when they moved from Chiswick, West London, to the Wye Valley last year.

At the time Kate said that it is where they have wanted to live for “a very long time”.
