REGARDING the story on rail ticket office closure fears (LT, March 14), the idea that people should be able to buy tickets from shops and garages is five-star stupidity and typical of someone who has no grasp of the way public transport works.

Garages? That’s where people who wouldn’t be seen dead on public transport go to buy fuel for cars, not railway tickets.

There are three garages in Darwen and none of them anywhere near the railway station. How is that helping?
