A 16-YEAR-old boy will not face prosecution for his involvement in a Blackburn street dispute in which an 18-year-old died following a fall, police and the Crown Prosecution Service said.

Zeeshan Khan, of Dartford Close, Audley, died on Monday. He had been in a coma for a week after the incident in North Road.

Police said he was involved in an incident with the boy which resulted in him falling and suffering serious head injuries as he hit the ground. A statement from police and the CPS said: “A decision has been made that a 16-year-old boy will face no further action in relation to the death of Mr Khan. This decision was reached following a robust investigation, which began immediately after the incident, involving a dedicated team of detectives with close liaison between the police, the Crown Prosecution Service and the coroner.

“The 16-year-old boy was interviewed by police in relation to the incident but has now been told he will face no further action.

Det Insp Mark Winstanley, of Blackburn Police, said: “This appears to have been a tragic incident involving two people which sadly led to the death of Mr Khan. Following discussions with the Crown Prosecution Service, a decision has been made not to take any further action against the 16-year-old involved.”
