RAMSBOTTOM United have just 10 games left to clinch the North West Counties Premier Division title after regaining top spot in midweek – but they face stiff competition in an exciting finish to the season.
The Rams jumped back to the summit on Tuesday night after thrashing Alsager Town 5-0 in south Cheshire.
Jon Robinson was twice on target, with Dominic Smalley, Ryan Moore and Lee Gaskell all weighing in with a goal apiece, in a thoroughly convincing display.
Their promotion hopes were dealt a further boost on Tuesday when third-placed Bootle were beaten at home to AFC Blackpool while, 24 hours later, East Lancashire rivals Barnoldswick Town were sent tumbling to a 2-0 defeat at Flixton.
Barlick are still very much in the hunt for top spot, but trail Rammy by seven points, but with three games in hand.
United, co-managed by Bernard Morley and Anthony Johnson will hope to solidify their position, but now they must head to Flixton themselves tomorrow.
