HOODED vigilante hammer attackers are being hunted after a teenager was assaulted at his home.

Police said the 18-year-old fled his house in Shakespeare Way, Blackburn, in his underpants after being repeatedly hit over the head with the hammer.

He was then chased down the street by his attackers as he shouted for help from neighbours.

Following the attack police warned people not to take the law into their own hands.

The victim, named locally as Jordan, is currently on bail, after being arrested for a serious assault in Blackburn earlier this year.

Detectives said the incident, at 10am on Sunday, was being linked to that attack.

Det Insp Mark Winstanley said: “This was a serious assault but was not a random attack.

“The victim has been confronted by two men in his own home and has been assaulted with a hammer.

“They have gone to the address for a reason, to speak to him about a previous incident.

“This was clearly unacceptable behaviour and we will do everything we can to catch them.

“It is important that people let the police do their job and not take things into their own hands.”

The 18-year-old was kicked, punched and hit with the hammer after two men had knocked on his door.

After getting inside the terraced house they attacked the teenager but he was able to flee onto the street and raise the alarm.

He was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where cuts to the top of his head were glued.

The pair were both white, were wearing hooded tops and were in their late teens.

One of the men was six feet tall while the second man was around 5ft 10ins. Both had their hoods up throughout the incident.
