Wayne Hemingway on royal duty for classic car boot sale

BLACKBURN schoolboy turned fashion designer Wayne Hemingway will curate a day-long festival to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The event will feature classic cars selling royal memorabilia at the Diamond Jubilee Festival in London's Battersea Park on Sunday, June 3.

The free event will see up to 50 vehicles selling vintage bric-a-brac and royal collectables.

It will be curated by former QUEGS pupil Mr Hemingway and artist Clare Patey, and will also feature a village green, 1952 bandstand tea dance, outdoor cinema and other attractions.

The Diamond Jubilee river pageant, which will see 1,000 boats travel along the Thames, will also be visible from the park.

Mr Hemingway said: “Battersea Park will be an amazing place to be on June 3 and the Classic Car Boot Sale is a great way for people with vintage vehicles to get involved.

"Whether you’ve got a Reliant Robin, a Ford Cortina, an Austin Maxi or a Rolls Royce we want to feature as many classic cars as possible in this unique, royal themed, car boot sale.”

This looks like it's worth a trip down, I love looking at classic cars - I may even purchase one if the classic car insurance is right.
