A MAN who regularly burgled houses in Hyndburn is helping make people’s homes safer.
Former criminal Jason Nice would regularly travel to the area to steal during his days as a drug addict.
Now, the 34-year-old is helping officers with his unique insight into which homes are vulnerable.
Jason, who supports numerous Hyndburn charities and has been a police and youth volunteer for five years, spent over ten years in prison for theft and drugs offences between the ages of 16 and 28.
Now he is helping Operation Julius by joining officers on patrol across Lancashire, using a range of overt and covert tactics.
He said: “At first I committed crimes on my doorstep in Bolton, but you have to branch out to other areas to avoid the police. Addicts are totally selfish. I did every kind of drug there was.
"One time I even did some pills that I had found on the street. A sane person would not do that.”
Jason, who has been clean for seven years, committed his first burglary at the tender age of six.
These days he also works with Hyndburn teenagers throught the YNOT youth scheme and was selected as national ‘Volunteer of the Year’ at the Justice Awards in 2009 out of hundreds.
PC Rob Flanagan, who works with Jason through the Hyndburn Community Safety Partnership said: “The work Jason does is invaluable. We as officers cannot see things from the same point of view as he does. It’s really helpful in keeping crime down.”
Jason said: “People leave the front light on when they go out – but if it’s the same one two nights in a row, they’re probably on holiday.
“Security lights are useless. You just put your coat over it. I can tell by looking how to open any type of patio doors.
"If you get cheap doors and locks, or a cheap alarm, a burglar will know”.
He added: “I love helping the police. I wish I could apologise to everyone I had affected.
"I know I had a part to play in causing damage to the community and I consider myself to be one of the fortunate ones who could give something back to help people.”

if the police need the help of this man then we obviously have very inept constables. why then do they want more council tax?
another garbage idea costing the taxpayer, meanwhile the country is being nicked from the top.
is it the fact the police cannot see beyond their hive mind that it has never occured to them that as individual constables, sanctioned by the people under oath, they have a duty to investigate such realities as treason and corruption without asking permission of the sargent, in fact they must investigate in spite of all superiors if they are acting contrary to their oath...so why don't they?

It seems to me that, whatever the subject under discussion you are an expert, and proffer your own special brand of incoherent b0llo0cks to all and sundry.
I bet you're a riot in the pub!
Go and read a book - or some activity which keeps you away from a keyboard

everyone understands english according to their needs which limits the real comprehension of the english language.
I do my best but my main time is taken up pulling together new stories thus I cannot actually satisfy your request.
I give it in the way i feel is the easiest to grasp, some get it, most do not, but like all learning, the moment you hit someones button...they get it.
I would add this of course, take not my word for anything, if what i say intrigues you then investigate it for yourself.
The cards are having serious ramafications across the country so catch up is the order of the day for all of you.
The corporate state likes not the green card, that should be enough for you to want to learn its value then you can see for yourself its validity.
It works, they stand down without any hint of aggression or threat, exactly what my aim has been all along.
last chance corral before the only option remaining is violence, exactly what we do not want in these lands.

Our soldiers are being killed because of a statute rule set fourth by the UN which has no bearing upon the British realm, the first line of inquiry in the protection of life and limb.
Because of statutory rules again, this country is being demolished with debt as it becomes tied to our economy owed to a now foriegn body, the IMF. The first line of enquiry in the protection of the British realm and its assets base.
In signing off the statutes, the queen is not upholding the coronation oath, this is treason and the first line of enquiry as to how foriegn bodies can today dictate any kind of policy over the British realm.
The unelected coalition cuts are going to produce civil unrest, already warned as such by a Met police chief some time ago, it is the job of the constabulary to keep the peace. Bringing to book the policies of this unlawfull government would be the first line of enquiry in ensuring the peace is kept domestically.
Fraud, fraud and serious fraud being carried out by government ministers, police chiefs, army, naval, and air force chiefs, county and local councillors and all our MP's and Lords.......etc.
They do not require permission to investigate these issues it is their duty under their oath inspite of any and all opposition from their respective superiours who should be arrested for impeding an investigation, as are the CPS, the Ministry of Justice and all ministries beholden to the corporate realm, now parading as government bodies, they are not.
The situation we suffer is so because the queen has never been the monarch of the British constitutional realm, and therefore does not upkeep that doctrine, her realm is the corporate and the reason one of the first things she had Blair do was change the laws on treason, by statute of course.
Her realm is the only realm left in the minds of the dumbed down masses, it is the realm of the statutes the corporate domain, she is a deception in the order of the most evil acts to be set against any nation.... treason from the top protected by the top.
The corporate realm is the only thing that has grown since 1953.
Only the people coming together can change this, all politicians are now placed politicians, vetted and deemed programmed by the evil corporate state from Babylon to serve only Babylon.
The deception is so clever that all offices of this nation while still believing they acted for the British realm, actually took the monarch on trust that she also acted for the British realm, she does not and thus by definition of upkeeping the oath to Queen Elizabeth II, all office holders under oath have served the corporate realm of this seriously unstable woman who calls herself a queen and is very busy today pushing their chosen new wave of trough drowned sick greedy psychotics, the two princes and ones new wife, to take full control over the lot of us while they head into the background as the future unfolds.
The royal wedding was the queen reasserting her control over this nation after the murder of Diana went past the decade timespan, and it looks very much like you have all fallen for it yet again.
They are evil people with evil intent, and they aim to have all our children die for their greed and power cravings, I say no thanks your time is coming to an end.
