WORK is set to start on a new £1million pharmacy centre in Accrington next month.
Aston Chemists will relocate to a purpose-built facility in Blackburn Road housing a pharmacy, dentist and opticians.
The company has run a branch further down the road for the past 25 years, but was served with a compulsory purchase order (CPO) by Hyndburn Council four years ago.
It has now agreed to buy land next to Acorn Health Centre after a relocation package was agreed with the council.
The firm’s bosses also plan to move their Blackburn headquarters to the new building, which is on the site of a former petrol station.
Work will begin on Monday, February 6 and the centre could be open as soon as September, creating up to 25 new jobs.
The council agreed the CPO using funds provided through a housing market renewal scheme to regenerate west Accrington.
The council is working with development partner Keepmoat Homes to create new housing.
