£48 drink binge ends with curfew

A MAN who assaulted a police officer was sentenced to a two-month curfew and ordered to wear electronic tagging equipment.

Andrew Bamber, 34, of Mylne Close, Downley, was in High Wycombe Magistrates Court on Friday after pleading guilty at a previous hearing.

Laura Steele, prosecuting, said Bamber had been on a heavy drinking session on the afternoon of Monday, December 18.

Police were called to the Golden Fleece in Hatters Lane, High Wycombe, to deal with a man, Bamber, who had fallen off his bike and noticed that he smelt of alcohol.

Chris Fairweather, defending, said Bamber had no recollection of the evening, that he had gone out with £50 and had been found with only £2 at the end of his night's drinking.

Magistrates sentenced Bamber to a two-month curfew which means he has to stay in his home between the hours of 8pm and 5am with police being alerted to his whereabouts via the tagging equipment if he leaves his house. He was ordered to pay £100 compensation to the police officer and £155 costs.
