Accrington lap-dancing club protest hots up (From Lancashire Telegraph)

I hope the petition is correctly worded and relates to the objections toward the selling of alcohol and not just objections to the opening of a lap dancing club.

Some years ago you fought and won against Cynthia Payne and her joint venture with a new "club" on Church Street. I help a little along the way.

Not in a position to give direct help this time... BUT you have my support from a distance.

Seems they will never learn... BUT it was always a risk once the decisions for licensing matters were COMPLETELY handed over to Councillors and not Magistrates.

Best of luck. I think Accy needs a lap dancing club like a "hole in the head"

Why not?? It will only stay in business if there is a enough customers willing to pay to go in?? The one in Blackburn didnt last long this would probably do the same.

What is wrong with Lap dancing I personally love to see people in national dress celebrating there culture. However, I am surprised there is a large Lapland community in Accrington. I personally am pleased about the influx of Eastern Europeans, as I like nothing more than to spend time in Pole dancing clubs.

Yes totally agree. What's the problem with a lap dancing club anyway? At best it creates employment at worst the owners go out of business.

I can understand the need for Rev Kev and the moral police but it will be a shame if they are successful. In these times there are worse things to worry about other than a lap dancing club

Accrington already suffers from massive moral social problems especially amongst it's younger women, all this does is speed up this moral decline. So good luck those that fight this.

These protesters need toget a life - anybody brave enough to stump up the money on opening a new business in these times, especially in such a thriving metropolis as Accrington deserves some credit for having the guts to do it > nobody is forcing people to go in - if its not your cup of tea then stay away . Surely people should be able to decide if they want to visit church or a lap dancing club themselves.

I think it shows the typical would-be pious contempt for any dancer that chooses to work in this industry - no matter how professional or talented they are.

It's not as if they'd be performing "The Ballet of the Chestnuts" here - so wanting to prevent the club opening is as hypocritical as when the Pope banned the Tango.

If you dont like the place stay away from it and polish your brass in the church! I am male and dont like going out in accy but if i did i would probably like to go to the club. Least most of the pratts wont be in there!

LITM, i like reading what you have to say but where is your proof that the UK Government has set up death camps.Also, how much of this "terrorism" do you belive is real?

its more labour camps being set fourth with the work programmes with people working for less than minimum wage.

this is how they began in germany then swiftly just out of sight they turned as we know into death camps.

today you have to see this in different terms.

the fence is the statute contract, the guards are the corporate judiciary.

when you look at the immigration aspect to the work programmes, specifically the landed resources agenda, then the system being implemented without a change in protocol can very quickly shift to etermination camps just out of sight as slaves are shifted abroad and perhaps never seen again.

when the government announces they are to remove 700.000 TERMINALLY ILL off benefits, then murder is the only option, unless the coalition mean to give them loads of money in order they do not need benefits.

I have to say that there are far more important things that need addressing in accrington than moaning about a lap dancing club. How about tackling the more important issues like all the empty shops? The high unemployment rate? The drunks that hang around the town??
Accrington is rapidly going downhill so anything that would bring money and jobs into the town can only be a good thing!!!!!
