A DRUNKEN dad who threatened police in a ‘Shameless-style’ stand-off shouted he would put a machete in an officer's head, a court heard.

Mark Tomlinson, 26, had been hanging out of the front bedroom after locking himself in a house, was swearing and shouted: "Come in here and you will get it."

Tomlinson was being watched by a gathering crowd, including children, during the trouble in Hudson Street, Burnley.

He hurled a vase at the police, was told he would be tasered if he did not come out, and eventually complied.

His solicitor, David Leach, told the town's magistrates :"It's the kind of thing you see on the television programme, Shameless.

“He was hanging out of the window and the whole neighbourhood came out to watch."

He admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour, on June 25 and failing to surrender.

Tomlinson, of Arran Street, Burnley, was given a six week curfew, with Saturdays off.

He must stay indoors between 7pm and 7am and was ordered to pay £85 costs.
