Australia and New Zealand's Group A Cricket World Cup clash on Friday will also see the two teams contest the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy.
The trans-Tasman rivals have battled for the trophy annually since the 2004-05 season, and their meeting in Nagpur marks the only time the sides will face each other during 2010-11.
Australia currently hold the trophy after their 3-2 one-day series win in New Zealand in 2009-10 and New Zealand Cricket chief executive Justin Vaughan said: "The trans-Tasman rivalry is revered by New Zealand fans and we are pleased the Black Caps get the chance to compete for the trophy this season. This is a truly unique occasion with the two sides unlikely to compete for the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy in India again."
His Cricket Australia counterpart James Sutherland said: "I'm delighted the teams will have a chance to compete for this great trophy, which underpins the trans-Tasman rivalry in the one-day game. There is plenty at stake in this game."
