YOU can't beat it.

This giant poster will have Michael Jackson fans moonwalking to the shops to buy his new album - all thanks to a Rawtenstall firm.

HD Signs has created the poster, which measures 29,070 square foot and weighs 1.1 tonnes, for music giant Sony to promote the late King of Pop's album Michael.

Each side measures 52metres and is made of lightweight PVC mesh.

It took a full week to print and each piece was welded together to form the poster, which has broke the world record for the largest poster by more than 110 square feet.

The firm has remained tight-lipped on how much it has cost but it is estimated to have cost tens of thousands of pounds.

Jan Korab, managing director of HD Signs, part of the Linemark group based on Riverside Business Park, said: “All our staff have been delighted to be part of this project. It’s such a shame we don’t get to keep the banner and display it in Rossendale!

“To put it into perspective, the ‘Michael’ poster would take over three quarters of the pitch at Wembley stadium.

"It is longer than the equivalent of six Route master buses end-to-end and, if upright, would be higher than Nelson’s column.”

The poster will now embark on a tour of Europe to promote the hit album and will travel by sea container.

Tarika Vara, an adjudicator with Guinness World Records, said: “This is a massive achievement and it brings me great pleasure to confirm that with this new world record.

"Michael Jackson's 'Michael' has earned its place in history.

"This poster has not only achieved incredible scale but it has combined this with intricate detail and having seen it up close I can confirm that the quality of the image is fantastic.”
