Loraine Jones, general manager at The Mall Blackburn, said: “We have seen an increase in footfall since the redeveloped centre was launched in July and customers are really enjoying the new retail offering.

“For the first time ever, to support the huge demand in the run up to Christmas, we will be opening for late night shopping two nights per week, Wednesday and Thursday, until 9pm.”

Fashion retailers H&M and Bank and jewellers, Pandora, will be open in time for Christmas in addition to recently opened Primark, Deichmann, Peacocks, USC, Next and New Look.

Nelson is constantly in the media as a town in decline and no wonder with that attitude how can people just accept this. Christmas is retail boom time and to just disregard it as just normal opening times. Well you deserve all you get and wave potential custom off down the road....clueless classless pure idiocy....

"PEOPLE will be able to shop until midnight in East Lancashire as the build-up to Christmas gets underway."
Where??
David Watkinson makes this bold claim then goes on to describe that nowhere in East Lancs is open to midnight.
Does he mean the take-aways?
The latest time he gives is 9 pm - David this is mid-evening. Get out more!
David Watkinson - are you the world's worst reporter? I thought it was Sam Chadderton until tonight.

I am presuming that the reason why nelson has disregarded the festive opening times is because there are no shops to buy christmas gifts from. nobody shops at nelson anymore with the lack of decent shops so to stay open would be pointless!
