PETER Kay has stepped in to give the fundraising campaign for six-year-old cancer sufferer Madison Allan a massive boost.

It has emerged the Bolton comedian is donating all the ticket sale proceeds of two shows to the appeal.

The £250,000 campaign should be boosted by thousands of pounds thanks to the two sell-out shows at the Bury Met. Tickets cost £15 and the theatre holds 240 people.

The first show took place last night, and the second is tonight (TUES). The performances are a warm up for his national tour.

Mr Kay could not be contacted for comment last night.

Madison’s mum, Samantha, of Lord’s Crescent, Lower Darwen, said they only found out after a friend noticed the news on the comedian's official website.

She said: "We were completely shocked.

“Since we found out we’ve been trying to get in touch with Peter to say thank you, but we’ve not been able to do it.

“I’m a massive fan of his so it’s very exciting that he’s decided to do this. We think he must have heard about Madison on the news.”

Madison needs £250,000 for life-saving treatment not currently available in the UK. So far, £65,000 has been raised, with Coronation Street stars involved in the fundraising.

She has undergone the first phase of a chemotherapy-type drug course in Germany, and will start phase two next week after scans showed the spaghetti-like tumour in her stomach had shrunk slightly.

Mrs Allan added: “Until August we’ll be back and forth from Germany while she has the next course of chemo, and then there will be six months of antibody treatment after that, taking us into 2012.

“All the tests from the first phase aren’t back at the minute, but they do know that the tumour has shrunk slightly.

“Madison is more like her normal self at the moment, playing with her sister and dancing. I love seeing her smiling and laughing.

“But we do need more help to get the money to pay for Madison’s treatment, but it’s a bad time of year coming up to Christmas to ask people."

A statement on Mr Kay's website says: "Tickets £15 with all proceeds going to the Madison Allan appeal".

Tickets for the shows cost £15 and sold out quickly.
