STUDENTS are being warned to be on their guard after reports of a ‘student loan’ scam email.
Lancashire County Council said the messages falsely claimed to be from Student Finance England, the online service for the Student Loans Company.
Lancashire Trading Standards is warning students not to respond to the rogue email, which asks them to provide personal information.
It tells students that if they don't confirm their bank details, they will not receive payment.
Paul Noone, Lancashire's head of trading standards, said: “These conmen are very devious and it is easy to be taken in by their patter.
Anyone receiving suspicious emails of this kind should delete them immediately without even opening them.”

Secondly you are a sad individual who needs help. 'New Labour' is not in power now and I can't see what the present government is doing to sort out everything you are blaming on the shoulders of 'new labour’. They are just claims as I've yet to see any hard evidence to back this and the other claims you are making. In fact why am I wasting my precious time on even replying to his load of bull?!
These type of scams increased ten-fold under "New Labour". "It is wise indeed to inform vulnerable students about them. "New Labour" are "Soft on Crime, Soft on the causes of crime." New Labour" have allowed Hundreds of Thousands of dangerous criminals into the U/K/ unchecked. We must never allow "New Labour" to corrupt and infect the U.K. again. Are you listening "Mr Nihiliband"?
