Rossendale tour bus launched

A VINTAGE tour bus will take visitors to Rossendale on a tour of 14 of the borough’s top attractions.

The Tour Buzz will meet visitors arriving in Rawtenstall every Thursday and Sunday on the East Lancashire Railway.

And then it will take them around the sights, including the Halo, Fitzpatrick's Temperance Bar, four museums and Lee Quarry.

Tickets will cost £2 for adults, £1 for children under 16 with a family ticket costing £5.

The Tour Buzz made its first outing yesterday and will run throughout the summer holidays thanks to a European grant.

Coun Jason Gledhill, Rossendale Council’s tourism champion, said: “This is a fantastic idea.

“It will encourage visitors to stay longer in Rossendale and it will then boost the number of visitors coming to our main attractions.

“In the past, too many people arriving by train in Rawtenstall haven't ventured any further into the borough to find out just what is on offer here.

“The bus has the potential to tap into up to 50,000 day visits per year.”
