Firefighters spent an hour tackling a blaze involving LPG gas cylinders and railway sleepers near a railway line in Oswald Street, Burnley.
Police called the fire service to the scene at 6.45pm amid fears the cylinders could explode.
A hose reel was used to cool the cylinders for 20 minutes before they were moved and the scene declared safe.
