A RAILWAY bridge has been adorned with tributes written in chalk following the death of a Clitheroe teenager.

The body of Claudia Sarah Linley was found on a railway line between Blackburn and Clitheroe last Friday.

Dozens of tributes and letters addressed to the 18-year-old, who died after being struck by a train, have since been tied to railings in Ribchester Road near Ramsgreave and Wilpshire station.

The former St Augustine's RC High School pupil has been described as 'absolutely delightful'.

Her former headteacher at St Augustine's, Anthony McNamara, said news of Claudia's death had sent shockwaves though the community.

He added: "Claudia was a lovely girl and a very popular pupil. We have very positive memories of her and we were very upset to learn that she has lost her life.

"At the end of term mass we will be praying for Claudia and her family."

An inquest into her death has been opened by Coroner Michael Singleton at Blackburn Coroners Court.

Claudia, who was the daughter of Betina Linley, of Clitheroe, also attended Clitheroe's St Michael and St John's RC Primary School.

A funeral service will be held at St James Church, St James Street, Clitheroe, on July 12 at 11am followed by a burial at Clitheroe Cemetery.
