THE McDonald's drive-thru in Burnley will be able to open for 24 hours after councillors extended its licence.

Bosses at the fast food giant had wanted to open the Trafalgar Street restaurant as well.

Concerns had been raised by local councillors about the noise that would be caused by allowing the restaurant to open for 24 hours.

So councillors decided on Wednesday night to permit only the drive-thru to remain open past midnight.

Signs will be erected at the site forbidding customers to remain in the car park once they have used the drive-thru.
