THE parents of a student who died in a violent fracas are to meet prosecution lawyers in a bid to find out exactly what happened to their son - and why no-one has been brought to justice for his death.

The Crown Prosecution Service in London has taken the highly unusual step of agreeing to a meeting with Mark Taylor's family next week to discuss the case.

Mark died in December after being involved in an incident at Brunel University, Uxbridge, where he was studying engineering sciences.

Another student was later charged with his murder and appeared before magistrates but in April the CPS dropped the charges because of lack of evidence.

Mark's mother Pat, of Mytton View, Clitheroe, said there were many unanswered questions about her son's death and the police investigation.

"I just don't believe what we have been told happened that night. We want to know exactly what did happen and why charges against the man accused of his murder were dropped."

And Mrs Taylor said if the CPS was still not prepared to take the case further she is prepared to bring a private prosecution against the man.

Their solicitor John Houldsworth - together with Ribble Valley MP Nigel Evans - has been writing to Director of Public Prosecution Barbara Mills about the case.

"Mr ands Mrs Taylor lost their son in December but still don't know exactly what happened and why the charges were dropped.

"Hopefully we will find out the answers at this meeting and then we will be able to decide what action to take next."
