HELLO, salar! And welcome back after all these years!
Salmo salar - or the king of fishes, the Atlantic salmon - has been spotted in the Calder for the first time in at least 30 years.
According to many anglers it probably much longer since salmon were breeding in what was one of East Lancashire's dirtiest rivers.
The salmon's comeback is an encouraging sign that the fight against pollution is being won.
And it's a reminder of just how long it can take to repair the damage when we fail to pay respect to our environment.
Let's make sure this time that the salmon does not get his chips.
