WITH reference to your Opinion column (LET, February 22), lead in the water supply is caused by the nature of the water that is being supplied.
Its acidity should be reduced by the water company to a level that will not cause this trouble.
Soldered joints and other metals in contact with acidic water can be a cause or water pollution.
It is not unknown for copper to be dissolved by an acidic supply.
So put the horse back into the shaft and supply water in a less harmful condition.
