A MAGNIFICENT trophy proved the icing on the cake for Leyland lass Laura Hill.

Laura took second place in the ladies' silver competition at the Blackburn Open ice skating competition last week - the 29th trophy she has collected in her career.

The 16-year-old, from Kennet Drive, has represented Scotland in international competition and is looking forward to her next test in Sunderland this weekend at the national test centre.

She said: "I did pretty well at Blackburn - better than I expected.

"It was the best I ever skated but the girl I was against was the British Champion, Kerry Brown, so I suppose I did quite well really.

"I scored in the high 3s; two 3.8s and a 3.9 in artistic and technical scores."
