DETECTIVES hunting a gunman who blasted teenager Adam Hayes are desperate to hear from a man who claims to have vital information.

They want the informant to get back in touch with them after a suspect was released without charge following four days of questioning.

Police are offering a £5,000 reward to catch the man who blasted the 17-year-old in the chest and arm with a shotgun.

Adam, from Redlam, had been enjoying a night out with three friends when he was attacked in Preston Old Road close to Witton Park, on Saturday, February 12.

A middle-aged local man was arrested last Saturday morning after he was spotted loitering in the street less than half a mile away from where Adam was shot. He was released last night but police say they are continuing with their inquiries. Detective Inspector Bob Eastwood said: "We are still following a number of lines of inquiry but we would particularly like to hear from the person who contacted the Crimestoppers line with the name of a man who they believe carried out the shooting.

"Anyone with information can contact me on 01254 353558 or the confidential Crimestoppers line on 0800 555111."
