IN response to your article about 'pressure cooking' dogs (LET March 29), I am totally disgusted and upset by the callous way the EU are telling us to dispose of a beloved pet.

Do they have any idea of the distress and suffering that will be caused to owners at the thought of pets they have loved for years being turned into jelly?

These animals give us nothing but love and loyalty all their lives and ask nothing in return except to be fed and looked after and the thought of treating them this way at the end of their lives makes me sick to my stomach.

The EU says that it is more environmentally friendly to 'pressure cook' a dead animal. I would like to point out that all the hot air they spout causes more harm to the environment than any amount of cremations or burials of our beloved pets.
