AS an Englishman and a nationalist, I get very angry when I hear Westminster politicians and members of the chattering classes warning about the dangers of English nationalism.

They are trying to give the impression that our aim is to build a fascist-type state in England and that people of foreign origin, especially those with black or brown skins, would be treated like the Jews in Nazi Germany in the 1930s.

That is a blatant lie -- our aim is to get for the people of England a better deal within the United Kingdom, and, eventually, full independence for England, Scotland and Wales, plus the reunification of Ireland.

All people in the 'New England' would be treated as equal citizens. It is ironic that one of the supporters of English nationalism is Alex Salmond, the leader of the Scottish National Party.

He is a man of vision who would, in my opinion, make an excellent Prime Minister of an Independent Scotland.
