STUDENTS from Broughton High school, Preston experienced the 'Science Lesson of a Lifetime', by Johnny Ball productions, when they made the trip down to the Millennium Dome.

The trip was organised as part of 'Engineering our Future', a nationwide education programme designed by BAE Systems and the New Millennium Experience Company to stem the UK's shortage of engineers. The lesson introduced the young people to the wonders of science through the exhibits of the BAE systems Mind Zone, Ron Mueck's 'Boy', infa-red thermal imaging cameras, 'Plan-it' and morphogenic machines used to explore how body and brain sensors work.

Broughton High School teacher Adrian Brandwood said: "The students got a tremendous amount out of the science lesson which, through the superb presentation, helped bring the exhibits in the Mind Zone to life."

Following the lesson in the Mind Zone, Johnny Ball said: "We need to show kids how exciting science and technology can be."
