ST CATHERINE'S Hospice continues to develop its services for the new millennium.
Its new extension has aided therapists and considerably more patients are benefiting from its Day Care Facilities.
The 'nurse-led' organisation which seeks out its own funding is an integral part of the overall care available for patients suffering from diseases such as cancer, MS and Motor Neurone disease in Chorley, Preston and South Ribble.
The hospice is part of the process that will enable the new cancer unit in Preston to become a designated 'Specialist Cancer Unit'.
The hospice is continually looking at different ways to help the community and they have set up an internal committee to look at the best way to help ethnic minority groups.
The hospice had a wonderful fund raising campaign last year. Last year's car raffle alone raised £18,500. This year's prize is a Rover 75.
Despite raising more money in 1999 than ever before the hospice still had a small deficit on its running costs. It shows how important the support of donors is to the hospice.
