A GAME of two halves. The first half was even with both sides having chances with TCFC going in at the break with their noses in front after Mark Wild converted a Chris Rolinson cross. In the second half the Tigers took control with Steve Wilson in good form when needed. Alex Smith and Mark Wild dominated midfield, providing the balls for Adam Richardson to bag five and Chris Rolinson his hat-trick. Man of the match was Alex Smith.

A HARD fought game, TCFC shaded the first half thanks to a fine individual effort by Dane England. In the second half Staining applied the pressure and despite hard good work by Ben Whelan in goal, Matty Wood and Jake Gillett in defence, Staining equalised. Thornton's winner came when Dane England picked up a Dominic Sykes pass, beat two defenders and "chipped" the Staining keeper. Man of the match was Ben Whelan. THORNTON CLEVELEYS U12s 6 OUR LADY 2

THE visitors punished Thornton's early profligacy with a break away goal to take the lead. Unperturbed, Steven Rolinson, Steven Barnes (man of the match) and Matthew Ogden linked well down the right to maintain Thornton's pressure, but it was not until Our Lady lost their keeper through injury, that the equaliser came, through Ogden. Thornton took a 4-1 lead with further goals from Sam Gordon (2) and Steve Barnes, but Our Lady replied before the break to reduce the deficit to two. The second half was well balanced but Thornton's Anthony Wilson settled any nerves to make it five followed by a Sam Gordon hat-trick.

THORNTON CLEVELEYS U17s 3 CHORLEY ST GREGORY (LANCASHIRE CUP) 0

VICTORY for Thornton came after they controlled the match with their passing game. Man of the match Hoogerwerf struck a delightful free kick, which the Chorley keeper didn't even see. Hoogerwerf then got his second after some fine work by the Thornton front men of Whitewood and Rawcliffe. In the second half Thornton's midfield took complete control with Bowley making some forceful runs. Thornton's third was scored by Whitewood from a great pass over the Chorley defence from Duxbury.
